More coffee comics! Coffee gives the perfect color for us swarthier gents.

Drawing this, I was thinking about the styles of Eddie Campbell and Frank Stack, two artists whose looser, sketchier styles did not appeal to me at first, but which grew on me immensely the more I explored their work. Which you should do also.

Happy Friday, here are some crazy awesome Polish film posters to tide you over until Monday.

Polish film posters = brain splode. So much visual tastiness!

Eddie Campbell cracks me up. So much. Though I can’t tell if I’d have a lot of fun talking to him or if it was just be very surreal talking to him.

I made a personal point to avoid anything that involves math in terms of school and majors.

I have taken so many derivatives today. I have actually cornered the market on derivatives. There is now a derivative shortage. Derivative prices are through the roof.

(Which is too bad, since they are integral to our economy.)

So it’s your fault the economy took a clockwise (on the z axis) turn. Damn your eyes

Man, I feel george’s pain. When did you go to Boston, or did he come to MTC?

I love the facial expressions of you and George in the middle. When George smiles, they’re always these really great “kid-in-a-toy-store” kind of smiles, but here it looks like he’s grinning regretfully, not actually smiling. At first I thought his expression didn’t really fit with what he was saying, but now I think that it really does.

Also, Nate: I’ll trade you some incredibly inaccurate approximations for your derivatives. I got a surplus of those recently.

do you go back to the pages that you coloured with coffee more often just to smell it? i would, oh man. I wish you could add a SMELL-O-VISION feature to this website.

also, if we’re talking about polish movies, may i recommend: THE TWO WHO WOULD STEAL THE MOON (equally cumbersome in its original language “O dwóch takich, co ukradli księżyc”), starring two future presidents of Poland.

A: He came to MTC. There will be more George comics on…Wednesday! Yeah, George’s smiles are the beez kneez usually. Our talks were funny but depressing: basically I kept saying he was smart because he knew what he was doing, and he kept saying I was smart because I don’t.

Heather: The smell doesn’t linger, unfortunately. I do however recommend brewing a cup o coffee and sipping it thoughtfully as you look at coffee comics to better experience them! Mostly I just recommend coffee. Or tea.

Also I will look into that movie, I have never heard of it!

Ian, have you read Eddie Campbells’ BACCHUS? I just got it in the mail the other day after purchasing it from the TopShelf $3 comic sale. I had never heard of it before.

  8. Ian

No, but I waaant to. I’ve heard that it’s brilliant, but I actually haven’t read all that much of his work outside of his collabs with Alan Moore…let me know how it is!

I finished it a few hours after I wrote that comic. It was decent, but I only have the first book and therefore I feel kind of stunted. :/ I might like it more if I had more volumes. I’ll let you borrow it when I see you next.

  10. Ian

Cool, thanks! Maybe it was Fate of the Artist that I heard was brilliant?
